Fault Fixer: Fat iron shots

Published:

It’s an embarrassing problem to have, isn’t it? Fatting your iron and wedge shots occurs mostly when the body’s centre moves back behind the ball at impact. Remember the body’s centre or sternum is where the bottom of your swing arc is so if you hang back behind the ball, you’re going to hit the ground first.

This video tip from TG Elite Pro Gareth Johnston highlights a simple drill to help shift your weight more into the left side at impact. This will enable you to strike the ball first and then take a divot. Give it a go and you’ll soon be crushing your irons at the pin in no time.
