Tiger Woods won a record seventh PGA Grand Slam title in Hawaii.

The world number one started the final round of the 36-hole tournament three shots behind Jim Furyk.

But his bogey-free six-under 66 on the windy Poipu Beach course saw him beat his Ryder Cup pal by two and win $500,000.

Furyk, the world number two, closed with a 71 to take home $300,000.

The other two players in the field – US Open champion Geoff Ogilvy and former Masters champ Mike Weir – struggled to 74s. Current Masters champion Phil Mickelson pulled out.

Woods has owned this event, which is only open to Major champions. He also won in 1998, ’99, ’00, ’01, ’02 and ’05. He finished second to Ernie Els in 1997.

Furyk won the 2003 Grand Slam, beating Weir by eight strokes when Woods wasn’t in the field.
