Parque da Floresta Golf Club

What we say

Parque da Floresta Golf Club is the most westerly golf course on the Algarve and even though it’s stuck out on a limb, it’s worth traking the time and trouble to tee it up. The golf course has been considerably improved in recent years and has managed to shrug aside it’s ‘micky mouse’ reputation.

Be warned, this severely undulating layout is no place for the faint-hearted and plenty of ‘blind’ holes and slanting fairways remain so expect a good mix of uphill and down hill lies then. Also, watch out for the testingly subtle borrows on the greens and the short-but-sweet par 3 5th…it looks easy but if you fail to find the ‘dancefloor’ from the elevated tee you’ll be in deep trouble as the green is on a plateau and falls away on all sides, leaving you with mission impossible of a second shot.

Parque da Floresta Golf & Leisure Resort is set in the Western Algarve, amongst rolling hills, golden beaches, timeless fishing villages and unspoilt countryside. Bordering the Costa Vicentina Nature Reserve, luxurious villas and charming village houses surround the centrepiece of the resort, an imaginatively designed, 18 hole par 71 golf course.

beautiful course that winds itself through up and over the hills! everthing was in great condition a true challenge! only strange thing is that only 1 par 3 is 87 metersthe other 4 are 144 by the end you know what club to hit!!!! great course though can't wait to go back!!!

  • 3.5 out of 5 very good course but.....

Have now played this course 20+ times on trips to Portugal and after doing so again this week can confirm this is a challenging course and never boring - lots of potential for trouble as fairways can be narrow and OOBs exist on most of the holes and can be quite adjacent. There is lots of water, sand and rough and this course is windy/very windy especially in the afternoons. However the course is not long even the 525ish yd 9th which although invariably played into the wind and due to slopes, ditches and a big uphill green is a genuine par 5. None of the upwind holes are unreachable in par even the long par 4 17th. Accuracy and playing the wind is the premium on this course especially on the 'wow' postage stamp par 3 5th which demands a well thought out and very accurate downhill shot to an elevated green in the strong cross wind. The course is beautiful, and the 18th a classic spectator hole with an elevated approach which gets the heart going before a welcome beer in the welcoming and atmospheric 19th. The greens can be over sanded at times but on a good day this is a great course and will never be forgotten.

  • 5 out of 5 Stunning

This track is simply stunning. Each hole is different and it keeps you really interested. I used every club in the bag and it suits thinking golf rather than booming it. V friendly staff on and off course I cant wait to play this again. You must have a buggy though!

  • 3.5 out of 5 Buggy required!!!

The course is very tight in places but was in very good condition when I played it. You can walk the course but I would not recommend this as there are some long walks between certain green's and tee's. If you are staying on the complex there is a 40% discount off the green fee. Residents were very friendly and the staff in the clubhouse and pro-shop were helpful.

  • 3.5 out of 5 Lots of help

This is probably one of the least visited courses due to the fact that it is the furthest from Faro. I found that the course itself was in excellent condition, the staff were always on hand to help and the residents were more than willing to share their time with visitors. In fact on several occasions I made up a fourball with ex-pats.

A cracking course in the Western Algarve. The course is quite tight and maintains your interest all of the way around. The par 5 9th is a real challenge - a par here is the unltimate!
