What we say
It's hard to believe this Seve Ballesteros-designed golf course only opened a couple of years ago. It's in superb condition and has a splendid variety of holes, including the short-but-sweet 289 yards par 4 11th: it's driveable but land in the former quarry guarding the green and you're literally in deep trouble.
The Heritage was designed by Seve Ballesteros and Jeff Howes and is set in the beautiful rolling countryside of Co. Laois, just one hour from Dublin, with the Slieve Bloom Mountains as a backdrop. Five lakes and a stream meanders through the course bringing water into play on 10 holes. In addition, 98 beautifully shaped bunkers and 7,000 trees adorn the gently undulating landscape. A variety of tees allow the golf course to be played from 5,747 to 7,319 yards and The Heritage is the next venue for the coveted Seve Trophy which is contested by teams from Europe and Great Britain & Ireland.
Stay & Play: There's a luxury five star hotel with 100 rooms and superb facilities, including - would you believe - an indoor bowling centre on site.
