St Margaret’s Golf and Country Club

What we say

Magical modern layout which has staged the Irish PGA Championship (won by Padraig Harrington) and boasts dramatic holes such as the rollercoaster 12th which meanders between two lakes and over a brook to an elevated green. The shot into the final green, guarded by water on the right, is a nerve jangler.

St Margaret's Golf and Country Club boasts big dramatic holes like the roller coaster 12th, which rolls between two lakes and across a babbling brook to a majestically elevated green.

As well as awesome struggles there are broad forgiving fairways, neat par threes and greens that play very true on this fascinating course. As you cross a stream on stepping stones, or step back to admire your approach landing inches from the pin, you'll find more to enjoy every day in St Margaret's Golf and Country Club.

The practice facilities are unsurpassed. Golfers can warm up on two natural grass driving ranges, one with indoor mats available for inclement weather. Two short game areas and an 18-hole putting green are available to sharpen the scoring shots before or after a round.

  • 4 out of 5 Great Value for Money

    By Ragsy

Great location being only five minutes from the Airport and ideal if you are city centre based – being only 25 minutes away. At 50 Euros, this course offers great value for money when compared with the price of other courses in the area and is comparable in set up to many of the resort courses in the UK such as Carden Park (Nicklaus) and the Worsley Marriott and is probably best used a ‘filler’ course during your visit. The greens were true though probably not a slick as intended given the horrendously wet weather preceding our visit. A great mix of long and short risk and reward holes, where accuracy from the tee is a must given the short but incredibly tangly rough and significant amount of water hazards. The breakfast toastie in the clubhouse is unmissable!

Great test of golf but very fair. Great practice facilities. 8th hole par 5 over water is the one that you will never forgot. Great location within 10 minutes of the airport and 20 minutes from the city center.
