Santana Golf & Country Club

What we say

Santana Golf & Country Club, a Cabell Robinson design, may be new but mature avocado and olive groves give it an established feel. With rivers, creeks and hills to work with Robinson had the opportunity to build a seriously exciting test of golf – and he didn't disappoint. Tight drives and tough approaches make this a golf course for folks who can play a bit; the 8th, at 650 yards, is reckoned to be the longest on the Costa while the 18th is perhaps its hardest finale.

Second visit to the course & worth every euro. Slightly more expensive than average but in superb condition on both visits. Great scenery and good variation of holes! downsides are sticking to the buggy path & the clubhouse adjacent to the course & would be better overlooking 1st tee/18th green. One to play!!!

Funny course this, because all the reviews I read were fantastic, hence the reason our group of 16 chose to play it despite the fact it was slightly more expensive than some of the others in the area. That said, I must admit to being slightly disappointed. The welcome was excellent and the course very well maintained – very pretty, (it’s set in an old olive tree plantation) nice layout, challenging in parts yet fair, but missing the scenery some of its contemporaries boast. (Myself and the reviewer above will have to agree to differ on that one!) Would I recommend that you play here? Yes, probably, but not with any real gusto. Would I play it again? Probably, but that depends on whether Rio Real, La Cala and Montemayor were available.
