Al Maaden Golf Resort: Links and luxury in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains
Designed by Kyle Phillips, the man behind Kingsbarns in St Andrews, Al Maaden Golf is a par-72 championship course that plays 7,266-yards off the tips.
A Moroccan oasis with a touch of Scottish links golf, the course unwinds over grand, rolling terrain at the foothills of the nearby Atlas Mountains. Bunkers renovated in 2018 give multiple lines of play from the tee and tightly cut spill off areas around the greens gather errant shots, giving a host of exciting recovery opportunities.
Keeping with the traditions of golf, Al Maaden is also the only golf course in Morocco to offer golf scooters, but the course is designed to be enjoyed on foot, the landscape and geometric water features giving a feeling of playing through a Moroccan garden.
Designed by international landscape artist Fernando Caruncho, the garden is alive with olive, lemon, almond and cypress trees, among many others, offering a feast for the eyes. The marriage of an authentic, modern Moroccan environment with a world-class golf course of outstanding design and quality is complemented further by amenities that elevate Al Maaden further.
The restaurant offers a re ned international and local fine dining experience. The bar has a wonderful open chimney, private inside and outside lounges and offers a wide range of drinks as well as a great choice of tasty and healthy snacks, while the relaxing clubhouse is surrounded by patios that border beautiful square mirror lakes, rewarding guests with outstanding views of the nearby Atlas Mountains.
Electric golf cars, caddies and pull and electric trolleys are also available for rent. The golf academy is complemented by practice facilities comprising a 300-metre long driving range, pitching green, practice bunkers and putting green. The course is serviced by a beverage car, a marshal and a starter, guaranteeing everything is in place for you to enjoy one of Morocco’s nest experiences.
