The Els Club

What we say

Four-time Major Champion Ernie Els has officially launched his first ever-golf course creation in South East Asia – The Els Club Teluk Datai.

Upon unveiling the latest layout in the Ernie Els Design portfolio, The Big Easy said: “This is, without doubt, the most spectacular golf course setting I have had the pleasure of working on and I am incredibly excited about the prospect of inviting the first visitors to come and enjoy The Els Club Teluk Datai.

“The course is truly breathtaking and I am delighted with what we have achieved here. I endeavoured to make the most of this unique location and I believe that we have done just that.”

The club has already been voted the region’s ‘Best Golf Course’ at the 2014 Asia-Pacific Property Awards.

Nestled between ancient rainforest and the Andaman Sea on the iconic island location of Langkawi, the 18-holes championship course will serve as a focal point for the award-winning Datai Langkawi resort, which is a favourite amongst international travellers.

The course is managed and operated by Troon Golf, who oversee operations at some of world's pre-eminent golf resorts.

I have just played this course which from the moment you arrive to time you leave it is pure delight. The course is beautiful, fairly long, no bunkers but plenty of streams. The views are fantastic beside the Andaman sea and it really is pure golfing pleasure. It is a course suited for all handicaps so don't be afraid to play. It is expensive at over £100 pounds but this includes a buggy but it is worth the cost if you appreciate quality golf. Clubhouse facilities are good with excellent bar and restaurant.
