Top 10 Golf Courses – Lincolnshire
This top 10 was chosen by 2017 County champion: Simon Richardson (Spalding GC). Handicap: +3.8
Woodhall Spa (Hotchkin)
An absolute treat to play all year round and
I am very fortunate to have it almost on my doorstep. It’s recognised nationally and hosts multiple England Golf events in 2017 including the Brabazon Trophy.
Green fees: From £80. Tel: 01526 352511.
Woodhall Spa (Bracken)
It plays bridesmaid to the Hotchkin most of the time but is still a fantastic course that offers a completely different but fair test for all playing levels.
Green fees: From £55. Tel: 01526 352511.
I have always loved Elsham and have had success there over the years. Picturesque parkland course and renowned for its pure greens.
Green fees: From £25. Tel: 01652 680291.
Another picturesque course where you can spot a variety of wildlife including deer. It’s always in great condition and offers exibility having three loops of nine.
Green fees: From £25. Tel: 01476 567399.
My home course is undergoing big changes. The bunkers are being restructured and will produce a different test so I’m excited to see how the course plays this season. A big thanks to all concerned, specially head greenkeeper Rob Groves and his team.
Green fees: £45. Tel: 01775 680386.
A course that has crept into my top 10, mainly thanks to the efforts and improvements made by Rob Welford and his greenstaff. It’s always had potential and is now starting to show it. Green fees: From £20 midweek, £30 weekends. Tel: 01472 824109.
The venue of this year’s Lincolnshire Amatuer and the home of some of the quickest greens in the county. This is a testing course off the tee due to the penal rough.
Green fees: £40. Tel: 01724 862078.
Our only true links and one I love playing. Offers the typical tests that seaside layouts provide as well as some lovely sea views on the back nine.
Green fees: £50 midweek, £60 weekends. Tel: 01754 763020.
One of the best-draining courses in the county and pretty much playable year-round. Offers
a good challenge for golfers of all abilities.
Green fees: £28 midweek, £40 weekends. Tel: 01529 488273.
Another new one in my top 10, Forest Pines offers something slightly different. With three loops of nine winding through a forest of trees, plus the condition of the course and greens, it’s well worth a visit – especially with the hotel on site.
Green fees: From £40. Tel: 01652 650770.
