A Tom Morris design refined later by James Braid which is built on glacial sands with moorland fairways. It has the feel of tackling a links, yet is 600 feet above sea level. A hidden gem and geological marvel which is not overly long but a real test to any standard. Established in 1851, the course has hosted Open Qualifying eight times in recent years.
