Beadlow Manor Hotel Golf and Country Club – The Baroness

What we say

Although not the longest of courses, measuring a shade under 6,100 yards from the back tees, the 84 strategically-placed bunkers make the Baroness course at Beadlow Manor a stern test for every level of golfer.

Combined with reasonable prices both on weekdays and weekends, the Baroness should make for an enjoyable visit.

  • 4 out of 5 Beadlow improvements

An update to my visit in January 2010. Lots of good things happening. These 2 courses The Baron and the Baroness, are greatly improved this year 2012, and a lot of money is/ has been spent on the club house, the changing rooms and the course, The bunkers have been refurbished on the Baron and are in play, The Baroness bunkers are undergoing refurbishment at the moment. Green fees have gone up this year but still represent very good value. Try both courses if you can plan it, something for every golfing standard. Attracting a steady rate of new members also, which is a good indicator. Nice clubhouse with bar meals, and a Good Pro shop and a Driving range

There are now 36 holes. The Baroness course is the easier and prettier of the two being the original Parkland course 5,800 yards off the Yellows, and requires more course management rather than long hitting, it’s easy to score badly if you treat it too lightly. The Baron is longer and a par73 and needs a Big drive on a number of holes, some of them uphill also. Much more of a challenge with a mixture of original Parkland holes, and the newer, wide-open Driving holes. Both make me want to go back and improve on my previous visit and at a very competitive rate when accompanied by a member. The only critical comment I would make is that there appears to be a few bunkers which are GUR being returned to non-sand hazards and of course like most other courses, the sand could be softer. They are currently (JAN 2010) carrying out repair work using a new innovative method on some of the bunkers, which initially looks promising, including softer sand. Nice clubhouse with bar meals, and a Good Pro shop and a Driving range
