Lakeside Lodge Golf Club (Lodge Course)

Last Updated:

What we say

Despite the heatwave, Lakeside Lodge Golf Club was in great condition when we played it. The layout is maturing nicely considering it was all farmland just 16 years ago. However, some of the par 4s are on the short side and the tenpin bowling alley beside the 18th green can be a bit distracting. Watch out for the 3rd and 16th which are both fun par 3s, while the 9th is an attractive test at the turn.

Lakeside Lodge Golf Club is a splendid modern golf venue with the 18-hole, 6,821-yard Lodge Golf Course being the main attraction and featuring eight lakes and more than 15,000 trees. There's also the nine-hole 2,601-yard Manor Golf Course, and the six-hole 1,645-yard Church Golf Course plus a covered floodlit driving range where you can warm up for your round, and a separate nine-hole pitch and putt course.

Accommodation: Lakeside Lodge has 58 rooms available on site.

  • 3 out of 5 Nice course

    By Lee.Davies

Played the main 18 hole Lodge course for the first time a few weeks back. The course was in great condition given the recent hot weather with some really attractive holes. The majority of the greens are quite flat which is nice for long putts but not very testing. The staff are polite and welcoming, we stopped for a meal after our round and the food was much better than expected. We will definitely return to play this course again.

  • 4 out of 5 Wait for a strong breeze..

Maturing fast, much of this club is being "extended and improved" at the moment. It semms that "Pidley" is in the process of being developed into a "Golf Resort". However the main Lodge course played well yesterday. A strong easterly breeze blowing made this a different challenge as it nearly always blows from the South-West. Built on a Fen, the course is unsurprisingly flat so it's the wind that can make or break a round here, the 2nd and 4th(now S.I. One)can be interesting in a gale I agree this is not the most difficult course However It's usually in at least as good a condition as other courses in the area and it doesn't normally close. Play weekdays and after 12:30 at weekends, it's cheaper.

  • 3 out of 5 A good course, but pricey for what it is.

I enjoyed the round, the course is well maintained, but it is a bit on the pricey side in my opinion, for what it offers!.

  • 3.5 out of 5 immaculate greens

It was a bit open and not that challenging but it was in great nick for the time of year and I was pleasantly surprised overall. A nice place to play golf but just not mindblowing.

  • 4 out of 5 Lakeside Lodge

Lakeside Lodge is an excellent course to play and is always kept in good condition. I’ve recently noticed that they are currently updating the driving range and there are 4 courses for all abilities. The lodge course is challenging and the first 4/5 tee boxes are particularly interesting and each hole has its own individual layout so no dull repetition. There is no road noise any where on the course as it’s surrounded by fields, which is always a plus for me (less chance of hitting a car!). I’ve always found the Pro Shop staff more than helpful and the overall atmosphere is friendly. I would recommend this course to anyone.

Despite being the middle of winter greens were good, tee boxes could do with some TLC. Course is not to intimidating although lots of out of bounds for the first 4 holes for those with a slice! Friendly shop and clubhouse, driving range needs updating.
