What we say

As its name suggests, the club is situated on the Langdon Hills and offers panoramic views of the surrounding Essex countryside. Langdon Hills has 27 holes and three different combinations of 18 holes are available.

It deosn't play as the longest of courses, but accuracy and sensible shot selection are always rewarded round here. Well cut tees and greens offer a nice, aesthetically-pleasing touch, while good drainage keeps the course open for most, if not all, of the year.

The Langdon and the Bulphan usually provide the harder test, while the Horndon is slightly more open and forgiving.

    Langdon Hills Golf course is a course I like very much.  They do not use Winter tees and the greens are very good, in the summer they are excellent. Bulphan/Horndon is the longest combination of the 3 nines at the club with a par of 73.  Most members play Langdon/Bulphan but I like Hordon which I almost links in its design, just without the cliffs and ocean! Bulphan is a long nine with 2 par 5s in your first 3 holes and 3 in all  which means you will be playing 5 par 5s over the 18, like I said it's long.  Having said that there is enough interesting geography to challenge with ponds cutting in front of greens and bunkers strategically placed for mishit shots.  Hordon is more forgiving particularly in the autumn/winter when the long grass that seperates holes is cut back.   Fairways are wider and greens larger but are rarely undulating making putting easier. At £35 in the summer Langdon Hills falls at the top of what I may pay to play golf at the moment as a 28 handicapper, but twiights are better value at around the £20 mark.  Recommended.
