Played here at the beginning of March on a 2-for-1 through the clubs own Internet Membership which is obviously a great new initative to get new people playing at Lexden Wood...maybe I was expecting too much after the reviews on here and what is said on their own website with regards the new overhaul of the course and it's new 80 or so bunkers etc etc. Don't get me wrong it was a decent trek and the scenery is pleasant enough, especially if you were able to ignore the A12 and railway that runs through the course. The course in general is in very good condition and the new bunkers add a great deal to the layout and difficuilty as the majority of them are stategically placed and HUGE...unfortunately a section of the course, from 10 throu 13 which is the section furthest away once you go under the railway bridge seems to be the area which doesn't drain as well as the rest of the course. The greens are in good order and very slick, a good number of them are undulating and double tiered, the tee areas are also in good condition which would explain while several were temporary today...another dissapointment but understandable if they are trying to preserve them for the good weather...all in all a decent course and challenge which would improve once we start seeing the better weather. The pro-shop is in amongst the American Golf Store which was neither a positive ore negative in my experience as although it took a while to be served, we did have the luxury of looking round a well stocked store, the Fairways restaurant is very basic and the locker rooms/toilets could do with a complete overhaul. The friendly service was a bonus and the food was great value for money. I will definately play here again, probably on another 2-for-1 through the internet membership and definately once the weather has improved!!!
