Royal Epping Forest Golf Club

What we say

Quirky fact: It used to be compulsory for all golfers to wear red shirts whilst on the golf course here, because the course is on public land, they distinguished golfers from Mrs Jones walking her dog. This rule was scrapped in March 2014.

The star hole is the par-5 18th, a splendid finishing hole.

One of only two public courses to have the 'Royal' title (the other being the Royal & Ancient at St. Andrew's), Royal Epping Forest is set in the former hunting grounds of King Henry VIII.

While the course looks fairly innocuous from afar, several changes in elevation and surroundings make for a varied round of golf.

The narrow tee shots on most of the holes will make you think about club selection as driver isn't always the most rewarding option and the course boasts several beautiful, testing Par-4's.

Despite the few bunkers on the course, tee shots and approaches require accuracy..
