Sheringham Golf Club

Last Updated:

What we say

The real beauty of Sheringham Golf Club is that there's something for everyone: just make sure you carefully negotiate the 100-plus bunkers. The only thing is that most of the drama takes place on the action-packed front nine so the inward half can seem a bit tame in comparison. But there's some terrific holes, specially the par 4 5th - slice it and you're in the frothy sea way down below.

Sheringham Golf Club is a challenging golf club for all golfers at all times of the year and has been the venue for three English Ladies' Championships. Indeed it was at Sheringham that Joyce Wethered, later to become Lady Heathcote-Amory, won her first championship at the age of 18.

Accommodation: The Links Country Park and the Dormy House Hotel are both within five minutes of the golf course.

We played this on a saturday a few days after the sea surge and storms battered the Norfolk coastline. Considering this had just happened the course was in great nick. The greens weere still very true and quite fast and some of the holes are pretty special. The 5th and 6th playing along the clifftops with the views of the stormy seas were stand outs, although rain and wind eventually battered us so much that we were forced to retreat to the clubhouse. The facilities are a little old world but work is ongoing to improve them as we speak. Definitely worth a visit.
