Wellingborough Golf Club

What we say

Set in the stunning grounds of Harrowden Hall you expect a quality experience from the moment you drive down the driveway and sure enough the mature, tree-lined fairways meander through a majestic parkland setting with a great variety of holes.

After a gentle start, the round builds with a mix of long and short par 4s – the 9th is a monster, 455-yard dog-leg and a big, faded driver and a long iron are required to reach the green.

The course is pretty hilly but every hole throws up a different challenge. Slash away recklessly with a driver and you could be in all sorts of trouble, specially at the short-but-tight par-4 finale.

Wellingborough Golf Club was founded in 1893 while an investment of £1.2m by the club in 1999 provided all new greens, bunkers, drainage and irrigation system that included building of a 5.5 million gallon reservoir.

You'll be impressed: with golf course and clubhouse.

  • 3.5 out of 5 Extreme Grandeur

1st time i played this course was on a society day - i wasnt disappointed. Then I organised a 2fore1 with a friend who couldnt make the course society day. This year have played it x2 in March using the "Winter Warmer" because the prices are inhibiltive and they no longer take 2fore1 What time of year I have played the bunkers have been the best I have found - soft and fluffy - even after rain! Greens and tees are all extremely good, and lovely views over the countryside. Be warned, guest fees are £28, and on my budget this is near the top end.

This ia really natural, tradtional-feeling course. It has some fantastic holes and meanders through some wonderful contryside. It's tough but it's a little beauty. well worth a visit

The course meets up to all expectations of the web site.  The greenkeepers have done a fantastic job in the presentation of the course; event the tee boxes are better than some greens I have seen.  A good test of golf.  Plenty to choose from the very reasonably priced menu; just a shame you cannot get a bacon sarni before you start in the morning as they did not open for food till about 11.00am on the weekday we went.  Excellent value for money.  I will be going back!!

  • 5 out of 5 Fantastic

This is by far the best course in the area and is fantastic value. The club house is out of this world, one of the most picturesque buildings in northamptonshire and it deserves its reputation. Perfect for high and low handicappers alike.

This golf course is superb and was excellent value for money. The Pro shop were helpful and easy to deal with. Each hole had a different character and as medium to high handicappers we had chances to hit fairways and the par 3 greens. Yesterday there was little semi-rough and with deep thick rough you were punished by being off line and lost a few good balls. The 18th was tight and our matchplay went to the final putt. The whole day was impressive with manicured gardens plus fountains to admire with tea/snacks on the terrace in fantastic sunshine. Apart from that nightmare rough the day was faultless

Beautifully presented parkland course with enough width off the tee for high handicappers not to be too intimidated and enough difficulty to keep the mid/low handicappers interested. The layout encourages good course management with an occasional "go for it" tee to keep the big drivers happy. Immaculately groomed bunkers, fairways, tees and greens. Welcoming clubhouse situated inside Harrowden Hall itself. Pleasant outside terrace overlooking a well-groomed lawn with romanesque statues, to sit on and rest enjoying food and drink after your game. Excellent value at 2-Fore!-1 prices.

Course is great fun to play with loads of variation. There's a bit of everything and is very natural. The clubhouse lookks really posh from the outside but it's not once you get inside. Well worth playing though...
