Enville Golf Club

What we say

Something of a hidden gem, Enville’s Highgate layout is an Open qualifying course and a quality heathland-mature woodland combination. It’s fairly tight in places and is a must-play even though when we visited some greens were still struggling to recover from a harsh winter. You can make a day of it by tackling the neighbouring par-71 Lodge course.

Established in 1935, Enville Golf Club, situated a couple of miles from the small rural village of Enville, features two 18 hole courses. Both courses consist partially of both mature woodland and heathland.  The woodland sections of the courses feature fairways lined with mature trees, along with bunkers guarding the greens. The heathland sections of the course have more sparse mature trees, and more bunkers, along with the terrain itself offering a degree of hazard.

Cannot praise highly enough the way that the whole club, from bar staff to greenkeepers through to captain and his committee looked after us. The Highgate Course was a tough challenge with fiery fairways meaning accuracy off the tee was paramount, greens were fantastic, true and receptive. 70+ of us had three rounds over two days on the course and not a bad word was heard about the course. Even the members, kept off their main course for two days were friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent too. Without a doubt, worth visit after visit.
