  • 5 out of 5 This really is a Hidden Gem

WOW. what a wonderful course!! greens were in perfect condition, the fairways freshly cut and were like playing off a snooker table, ( bunkers werent up to scratch but never went in them ) after watching the masters and the quality of Augusta i didn't think i would ever play a course like it then this little beauty pops up. we played on Monday 14/04/2014 the weather was brilliant but a bit windy. the staff were great and when booking a tee were perfect in what we needed. i would recommend you take a lot of golf balls as if you miss the fairways or the edges then you will struggle to find your ball. i will play here again for sure further into the summer because it can only get better! we paid £36 for a 2 ball and a buggy, that was for all day and managed to get 2 rounds in. they have an offer of £10 a round on Mondays, real value for money!

  • 4 out of 5 Manor in the winter

    By Dave Street

To judge a course in winter is not the best especially when you stand on the first and see the hills around covered in snow. I had been recommended to play here by quite a few fellow players and even in the coldest of days was not disapointed. A few birdies helped but this course is what 95% of the courtry's golfers want. Not too long so even an average drive can still give a mid iron on quite a few holes; nothing worse than hitting your sunday best and still require a 3 wood to a par four. A positional golf course that you have to think about where to put your tee shot and not just try and crash big timber. A gentle down hill far four to start encourges a relaxed frame of mind. testing par three on the second, big open tee shot on a par 5 third. All draw you in. There are testing longer par fours put only a couple of holes. not easy but gives you a chance to score All holes seem to offer a different challenge and different ways to play them. Water in the form of ponds and streams cross the course. Would say to all who are in the area to give this friendly welcoming club a visit; I just need to thaw out for the summer and I'll be back.

  • 5 out of 5 Staffordshire Course of The Year 2010

    By JDTaylor

Top Golf Course! Very very very impressed. Welcomed by staff on arrival, Excellent layout with not 2 holes the same. Bunkers aren't great but the views, wildlife and general condition of the course was superb. Greens were top notch, played early and the staff had already been out cutting. Worth a round, normally get it half price if you book online at £12.50 which is a total bargain. Will be playing this gem again, voted as Staffordshires Club of the Year 2010. If you want to try golf how it was meant to be, give this it a try. If you don't enjoy it you are playing the wrong sport.

  • 4 out of 5 Manor GC is a real hidden gem!

    By David Abell

I have been playing the Manor GC on and off for around a year now and I have to say it real hidden gem! Having played a lot of golf in Perthshire in Scotland the feeling one gets playing the course is similar in many respects. In particular the rolling contours of the holes and stunning scenery. The holes fit perfectly in to the landscape and benefit from the natural charm of the River Blythe wending its way through many of the holes. The condition of the course is excellent and the greens are immaculate and challenging. If you haven't played the manor you should put it top of your list to try!

  • 3.5 out of 5 worth a look

    By icklelad

i played this course last week.i have played it before a few years ago and have to say the course has got better. a good mixture of long and short holes with a good use of water, although some of the ditches are in(lay up areas?)the short holes have to be well thought out,but there are plenty of holes where you can get the big stick out. all in all i enjoyed my round.i will be going back soon. well worth a look.

  • 4.5 out of 5 Great Course

    By Rob2707

I think that the earlier review by Tommytanker is a load of rubbish and it seems like hes living up to his name!!!!  I think that pound for pound there is no local course to match it!!!  If Tommy played it in the winter and is not happy with the irrigation, maybe he should have played the Brabazon instead (oh he couldnt because it would have proberbly been closed due to the rain!!!)  This course is one of the best unknown and underestimated little gems in Staffordshire.  Great variation, great challange, great welcome, Great place to play golf!!!

municipal standard facilities.no irrigation on the course so extremes of weather cant be coped with. if you like cheap and cheerful golf with no frills.this is the place to play

  • 3.5 out of 5 Great course: great value

    By maheath

I have played this course on a number of occasions over the years & currently, it has never been better. The tees, greens, location, hospitality & cost make it well worth a visit.

Get on yer walking boots, this course is up and down hill and dale! That said, it's a real gem, not long but it makes you think! And you'll appreciate the warm welcome in the clubhouse after climbing your way up the 15th and 18th. Enjoy!!

This is a very impressive and beautiful course. Some of the holes really make you think, but at the same time they're not that punishing. Excellent course for any level.

The easy first hole has you believing you're in for an undemanding time - don't believe it. There are lots of challenging - and surprising - holes on this delightful course. A bit hilly, but don't ever let that put you off this most pleasant experience.

A great little course, very difficult start and finish. The 18th is wonderfully unfair! Greens tend to the glassy and fast. The 2nd hole can demolish a good start. Recommended for a good day out.
