Sandwell Park Golf Club

What we say

This is one of the Midlands’ must-play courses, a tough wooded Harry Colt-designed heathland track. Every hole is a challenge, demanding accurate driving and approach play. You’ll find it in superb conditiion too, especially the undulating greens.

Sandwell Park is a traditional members golf club and was opened on Christmas Day in 1895 on land owned by the Earl of Dartmouth. In 1946 the Club purchased the land from the Earl. The course was designed by H S Colt. The picturesque course wanders over wooded heathland and is generally recognised to be a challenge to the most experiened golfers, with it's greens renowned for their borrows and speed. Each hole is entirely separate, sheilded from the others either by natural banks or lines of trees. It is a course that demands difficult carries and requires careful placing of shots that have to be given a great deal of thought. There are naturally undulating fairways that create difficult and testing approach shots to the greens.

Considering they rate themselves the best course in the Midlands - WHAT A JOKE !! when we visited the course was in an awful condition, the greens were shocking and bumpy, fairways grass too long and rough 10 foot deep - also the staff were very unfriendly and so snobby. Very expensive prices £40 for 18 holes and the food was not so good either - my pie was full of fatty meat UGH!! AND THE BEER WAS WARM . We also had a couple of rows on course with members who picked on us and did not seem to want us on their "beloved" course and threatened us with violence - ALSO the toilets were grubby and smelly WE WILL NOT BE BACK AT THIS UNFRIENDLY SNOBBY PLACE EVER AGAIN.
