Leigh Golf Club

What we say

This rolling parkland layout isn’t long but you need to be accurate because the fairways are tree-lined and the bunkers perfectly placed to catch wayward shots. Pity though that the impressive clubhouse doesn’t overlook any of the holes.

On approaching Leigh Golf Club, you could be forgiven for thinking that you were returning from a game drive when actually you are only 10 minutes from the M6 and M62 motorways.  Leigh Golf Club is in a perfect setting and is ideal for a round of golf with your friends, Society Outing, Corporate Days Golf, Workshop or Conference Seminar.
Leigh Golf Club has been established over 100 years and is situated in beautiful surroundings located in the heart of the Cheshire countryside.
Over the last few years, the Clubhouse has undergone major interior and exterior refurbishment and we have now become an extremely popular location for golf day entertaining, business conferences in the Greater Manchester and Cheshire areas.
Just recently, the golf course has undergone a £100,000.00 major improvement plan, which has involved the creation of new greens to PGA Standard along with the investment of new technology and machinery to ensure that the course is playable all year round, and it offers extremely good value for money.

Royal Leigh Once Again I have played on a number of occasions just recently and it is back to the days of good old Royal Leigh once again as i use to know it. I believe the golf club had a few problems with the greens last year and they have been renewed and relayed. The course was in fantastic condition when i played it and well worth the green fee payed.I would not hesitate in sending and recommending visitors to play this fantastic course. The fairways ,greens and tees were in immaculate condition and you can see that a lot of money and time has been well invested. The standard of service with the catering and the bar staff after our  golf was as fantastic experience.

It has to be said that this course has had a rough time over the last 2 years, but my recent visit convinced me that happier tims are not far away. Let's be honest, most courses suffered last year with the dreadful weather and Leigh was no exception. It is a very brave club that chooses to completely dig up almost half it's greens but early signs are that this decision was the right one as the new greens are already firm and appear to have a decent covering of grass. The layout continues to be a challenge, with well placed tee shots, accurate irons and a confident short game needed to tame this parkland course.

Played the course yesterday and was apprehensive as several of the greens the previous year were butchered by the previous greenkeeping team, now sacked. They are now in excellent condition thanks to the efforts of the new guys (27 putts is my best for a while). Thoroughly enjoyed my game on a course with a few strong par 4s and a few tricky ones - ones paper you think, "This'll be easy," but in reality a double or worse is round the corner. One thing I like about the course is the trees - you get in them and you drop at least one shot, but unlike other courses, there's enough space between them for the mowers to get in and so you tend to find your ball and have a shot out. Course looked good, it played fair and I enjoyed a nice bite to eat and a cool, refreshing lager afterwards.

I played this course on Saturday the 30th may and the course was in absolutely fantastic condition.I believe there has been a £100,000.00 investment in the course and the greens and it is certainly now living up to its old title of Royal Leigh once again.I found the course, fairways and greens to be in fantastic condition and manicured to perfection. The course was clean and tidy and presented in tip top condition. After visiting the 19th hole after my golf i also found the staff so welcoming. The overall experience including the catering could not be matched at any other golf club i have been to. I like to put on record that it is a credit to Leigh Golf Club and its members that it is now once agian Royal Leigh.I would have no hesitation in recommending this course to my friends and guests where i can assure you that you will get fantastic value for money along with a golf course in fantastic condition.

  • 4 out of 5 BACK TO ITS BEST!!!

Many have visited Leigh Golf Club over the past few years and rightly moaned about the general presentation and poor greens! I played here this morning, sunday 16th May, not expecting a great deal to have changed since my last visit in March. Everything has changed! The 8 greens rebuilt over the winter re-opened the previous day and are an absolute credit to the greenstaff who have worked on them. The original 10 greens are still a week from being as good, due to essential aeriation, but were still of a very good standard. The course in general was very well presented and there was the bonus of the new 'signature' 2nd hole. A sleepered pond being a fantastic addition to an already tricky hole. There are still one or two areas of scarring however these will fix themselves in the coming weeks with the warmer weather. The staff were all very friendly and helpfull and the food of an excellent standard. The members should once again be proud of the finest course in this area for miles around, a real cheshire gem! My advice is if you have been dissapointed recently get back to leigh and give it a go, you wont be dissapointed!
