What we say
This Turnberry lookalike was originally designed by Old Tom Morris in 1892 and is the premier course on this well endowed golfing island. It has it all, including amazing views, gorgeous turf, exhilarating clifftop location and spectacular holes.
CastletownGolf Links Club is the Isle of Man’s premier golf course and is a Top 100 golf course designed by Old Tom Morris and re-designed by Mackenzie Ross.
There is only one tree on the course and no deep dunes to seek shelter from the sea breezes. There are so many outstanding holes, including a trio of classy par 3s ranging from the the wind-effecting 166 yards 8th to the short 13th guarded by bunkers to the 185 yards 16th requiring a shaped left to right shot. Like St Andrews, Castletown has its over own 'Road Hole' and among its many admirers is Great White Shark Greg Norman.

I was fortunate enough to play Castletown Golf Links with a group of friends recently (flights from Gatwick with Easyjet were good value). The change of ownership a few years back with subsequent investment has made all the difference to this diamond in the rough. The course is looking well manicured and playing fantastically well, coupled with the splendid views and variety of challenges on every hole - it makes for a wonderful experience. The off-course service was also great with a warm welcome and good banter, the new clubhouse was completed to a good standard with beautiful views across the bay - we enjoyed a few nice cold beers on the deck in the sun after our round and explored a few of the sites the Isle of Man has to offer. Definitely going back to play this gem again.
Fantastic course. Keeps you on your toes for the whole 18.. Fantastic views. Very windy even when its a calm day.
