Dunscar Golf Club

What we say

Dunscar Golf Club was founded in 1908 and is situated in the valley of Galebrook between Turton Heights and Winter Hill. Though only three miles from the centre of Bolton, Dunscar offers peace, tranquility and fine uninterrupted views.

Dunscar is an 18-hole moorland golf course and is a challenge to golfers of all levels. At 5982 yards it is not a short golf course and, as the golf course is quite open to the elements, the wind can often be a tough challenge.

The experience is very similar to a links course with the swirls, eddies and gusts that you would normally associate with a seaside venue. Although a private members' club, visitors are made most welcome both on the course and in the clubhouse.

  • 3 out of 5 Always disappointed

I've played here a few times and I don't really get it... There never appears to be much of a challenge. The second is a bizarre par three onto a blind green about 80 yards above you. Bonkers. After that it's jus long and boring. Very little to push you or play with any strategy. Introduce some obstacles, bunkers or water to the fairway. Beautiful surroundings but never first choice for me to return.

Played here a couple of times and if you can ignore the grump that is the pro the rest of the members are very friendly and helpful. Excellent par 3's on this course are key to a decent score. Some holes quite close together and if playing on a weekend/busy period hard hat required but on the whole a decent round of golf at a decent price using 2fore1 scheme
