Swinton Park Golf Club

What we say

Swinton Park Golf Club is located on the A580, main Manchester to Liverpool trunk road, approximately three miles for Manchester city centre.

It's a parkland golf course designed and laid out in 1926 by the famous James Braid and is the longest golf course in Greater Manchester, with a par of 73 and SSS of 72. The tree-lined fairways and layout demand skill and precision, providing a great test for golfers of all levels.

Although a flat golf course, and therefore not placing too many physical demands on golfers, it boasts four par 5s on the front nine holes with each one protected by a series of bunkers therefore bringing their own levels of demand.

  • 3.5 out of 5 What a shame!

Good course in great condition and every hole makes you think about how you are going to negotiate a route through fairways peppered with sculpted bunkers, or avoiding the cleverly positioned water hazards. The course will be a challenge to all levels of golfer. My only criticism was the sheer ignorance of some of the golfers on the course. 3 times during my round I was almost hit by players behind even though we could not play on due to the people in front. When confronted I received a shrug and “what’s your problem”. I would expect a lot more manners from the players at this type of club. A real shame to spoil a day of challenging golf which in turn takes the club out of the calendar for a future society event.
