  • 2.5 out of 5 Owston Hall - Not quite how its described on the packet

I play to 11 and pretty much get round in this score on any course. I found the course quite easy even though it is fairly long on paper. The day i played it, it was blowing a gale which shows that the courseis quite open to the elements. The greens were quick and relatively true, bunkers were okay, but not top grade sand, fairways were a little patchy and subject to being waterlogged I would suggest (as we had standing water on fairways). There were 6-7 good holes, but on occaision due to poor course planning our group managed to get lost (even on the second round of the day). Definately comes under the category of a society course - our higher handicappers scored very well and because of the very forgiving nature of the rough did not find too many problems. The 19th hole and restaurant are excellent (I think they are part of De Vere chain).

  • 3.5 out of 5 Good Course, but a little bland

Good long course, always in great condition when I've played it. Needs a few more years to mature fully especially the holes down in the far valley.

Almost 8years since I played here and what a differance time makes to some of the courses.A real pleasure to play Unblemished greens the ball never bobbled once, fairways cut so well and shaped that the greens almost mingled into them. The groundstaff and management of this course need to be commended and at £22 for two on the 2-Fore-1 what a steal.Anybody from 1-28 handicap as a fair chance of playing to thier potential on here.I live 30mile away but am going again next week just ring the Pro what a great kid he his as well and give it a try!Bet Your Not Disappointed.
