Dale Hill Hotel & Golf Club

What we say

Ian Woosnam, Europe’s 2006 Ryder Cup winning captain, isn’t exactly a prolific course designer but his Dale Hill layout is a little masterpiece. It’s not long and it’s generally forgiving but, like its creator, this golf course packs a punch in the form of large plateau greens, usually well-guarded by water or sand bunkers. Top hole is the 17th, one of the classiest par 4s you’re ever likely to play.

  • 4 out of 5 Good challenge, will try again in Summer!

We played this course whilst guests at the Hotel at the end of March and despite the greens having been hollow cored and the general condition being a little below standard following the wet winter, the course is still a really good challenge with some ffantastic holes the pick of which are probably the par 4 9th and par 3 16th and enjoyable to play. The only question I would pose is has it been kept open during the worst of the weather to satisfy hotel guests when really it should have been closed?
