Tenterden Golf Centre

What we say

Tenterden was originally the idea of a small group of local businessmen and farmers who laid out a course at Leigh Green in 1905. The date of the move from Leigh Green to its current Woodchurch Road location, which until 1991 was only nine holes, is unclear but what is known is that it has survived two world wars. In 1940 a certain area was lost to the war effort for agricultural purposes and was never returned to the Club.

On paper, the course looks a stroll in the park but it is anything but: it is an interesting layout with many ups and downs, demanding precision play if you've any chance of playing to your handicap. Set in beautiful Wealden countryside, Tenterden offers some splendid views.

  • 4 out of 5 Enjoyable

Our first course in the UK on a tour along the South Coast .... and left with a very good feeling. It's a nice varied course with enough challenges for all level golfers. Some good memorable holes. The reception and clubhouse were friendly and although the clubhouse was very basic there was a nice small terras to sit outside with a good beer watching others finish their round. Darn good value for money with the 2 fore 1. Definitely like to play it again.

  • 3.5 out of 5 A enjoyable round of golf

The welcome is exceptional. The course is well maintained. The lay out of the course has two faces. At least half of the holes are very nice but the other half lacks imagination. So a bit of mixed feeling really. The 18th is a very nice closing hole with a difficult green. Om a sunny day you can watch from the high terrace how everybody is coping with this challenge. A nice end to a very enjoyable round of golf.
