Cottesmore Golf and Country Club has two challenging 18-hole golf courses, the second being The Phoenix, which is is laid out in the same mature parkland. There are tree-lined fairways plus the memorable "tee in the tree" at the 14th.

    I was really disappointed with the condition of this course, i played in august after a superbb summer of sun and was expecting the course to play better than it did. it was a little rainy on the day but that doesn't justify the patchy, bumpy and a little diseased greens. there was a temporary green on the par 5 2nd, making it play as a short par 4 and the tee for the par 4 third has moved up to make it a 160 yard par 3, neither of which alterations were mentioned by the guy in the proshop prior to the round. there needs to be a few more directional posts to the next tees, and if i was to play here again i would play the griffin course. avoid.

    Overall this course suits me as an improving high handicapper, I didn't feel out of my depth at anytime and think this helped me break 90 for the first time this year! Even with all the wet weather we have had I found the course in good condition and the greens seemed fine. Staff all seemed friendly and people on the course the same even when play started to back up at times. I prefer playing in the week as I did find the weekend quite busy. I would quite easily go back again.
