What we say
A solid parkland course tucked between a residential area and Filton airport where you'll catch glimpses of Concorde. The round starts with a driveable par 4 before you really get down to business. However, Filton is by no means a tough track and in fact can feel a little short unless you play off the back tees.
Filton Golf Club was founded in 1909 when a nine-hole golf course was laid out on land rented from the city council and the lord of the manor, J Atkin Waller of Pen Park.
The golf club became so popular that it was extended to 18 holes in 1912 and a clubhouse built. The club's first professional, E Crook, was engaged in 1911. It was not, however until 1979 that the Club was able to purchase the land on which the golf course sits.

As small golf clubs go, Filton is a much underrated golf course in the Bristol area. Packed into a tight space between housing and Filton Airport with views of Concorde, some holes can seem a bit up-and-downy, but its usually fantastically well kept and offers a fair and rewarding challenge. The guys at the club are very friendly and helpful, and although they are more exciting/expensive courses in the Bristol area, I heartily recommend it.
