What we say

Gloucester Golf Club, boasting the 18 hole, par 72 championship golf course has been designed to obtain the greatest possible benefit from the natural form of the hillside - the varying undulations as the hill falls from a height of 600 feet to 200 feet at the base of the golf course: the streams and small ponds which time has worn into the landscape plus many tree and wooded areas which have been left as nature planted and nurtured and which gives the golf course a natural beauty - and its golfders some natural hazards!

The first 11 holes will have you negotiating the lower slopes with streams running parallel and across the fairways. Enjoy the 12th which is a challenging uphill par 3 before entering the scenic holes which overlook Gloucester and the beautiful surrounding countryside; these incorporate some interesting and tricky holes - especially the downhill 18th where many golfers have tried to drive the green, with disastrous consequences!

In addition to the 18 hole golf course you'll find a 9 hole par 3 golf course, ideal for warming up before tackling the 18 hole golf course in the afternoon.

Gerry Pitman has been the greenkeeper since the golf course opened in 1976 and, with his team, has turned the golf course into one of the most well kept courses in the West of England.

The course gives you the best of both worlds, a long flat front nine followed by a stunning, but hilly, back 9 with tremendous views and holes. The two par 5's on the inward nine are testing but once you get past these you will find some of the best views on the 15th and 18th holes. The short par 3 16th give you time to appreciate the course before you reach the club house.
