Studley Wood Golf Club

What we say

This is the worthy golfing home of former tennis ace Tim Henman, now a scratch golfer. It’s a fast-maturing parkland layout with a fine variety of holes with plenty of timber and water (13 lakes) to negotiate. The round finishes in style with a dramatic 500 yards downhill par-5 from an elevated tee.

As our name suggests, woods play an important part in the topography of the course. Designed by Simon Gidman, the par 73 golf course is set in 170 undulating acres of what was once an extensive woodland.

Two loops of nine holes play in opposite directions around a 30 acre wood, which lies at the centre of the golf course.

All the tees and greens meet USGA specifications and the irrigation system is fully computerised. The result is a golf course which, framed by an ancient and beautiful landscape, combines a feeling of maturity with the prospect of a rewarding round of golf.

  • 4 out of 5 The best course i have ever played

    By Gary Bunney

This is the most challenging course i have played in a very long time, there are a lot of different holes with dog legs and raised greens and sloping fairways. There is a lot of water and bunkers to contend with but overall a course well worth the money.

  • 3.5 out of 5 Lovely course, friendly club. No fuss or nonsense, just good golf.

I'm a member here, and I’m so glad I joined. For me it's everything I want from a golf club. Such a nice course, and a very friendly club with a comfortable and convivial clubhouse. Work is currently under way to improve a couple of the tees, so I can't mark those any higher at the moment, but the greens are very good even at this time of year. Once the improvements to the teeing areas are completed I'd expect it to be back to a 4/5 at least. Good layout with some truly lovely holes.
