What we say
If you’re heading to this spectacular if remote part of the golfing world to play the stunning links of Machrihanish and the new Machrihanish Dunes, you should take the time and trouble to include delightful Dunaverty on your itinerary.
This short-but-sweet links is blessed with springy turf, gently undulating fairways and greens-to-die-for. And all this is gloriously set on the south coast of the Kintyre peninsula, providing breathtaking views to Sanda Island, Ailsa Craig and, on a clear day, Northern Ireland.
Furthermore you can tackle this hidden often overlooked gem for, wait for it, under £20 until March 21 which has got to be the bargain of this or any other year.
Dunaverty only has one par-5, the stroke index 1 13th known as The Cemetery and where many-a-round has died down the years.
But the key to a good score here is mastering both the wind and the quality par-3s which range from 120 to a whopping 234 yards, the beach flanking the right side of the latter where you’ll be content to walk off with bogey.
The par-66 links course at Dunaverty Golf Club is a short course at 4,799-yards and is an enjoyable yet testing layout. Undulating fairways and excellent greens make this a very nice course to play.
With spectacular views over the landscape, this will add to the golfer’s enjoyment of this challenging and well maintained golf course.

Dont travel all the way to play Machrihanish without also sampling this little delight. Its a fun well laid out great course. Some fantastic little holes and enjoyable from the first to the last. The 10th is 120 yards where I just got up with a full five iron and the next is 266 where i flew the green from the tee with a six iron. It was wild! Overall a great little course. The term "hidden gem" is used far too frequently in my opinion, but this is definately one!! Play it.
A very well maintained and enjoyable course with excellent views. Not too long but still contains some testing holes. A very good example of a reasonably priced links experience
