The Carrick

What we say

TG issue 253, 2009: It’s not as grand as its world-famous neighbour, but the Carrick (opened in 2007) is a welcome addition to the Loch Lomond clan.

Its idyllic location alongside the Bonnie Banks is best shown on the stunning par-3 14th which is played to a green way below the tee. With views out over the loch it’s a wonderful hole.

Weaving through an area of outstanding natural beauty on the banks of Loch Lomond, The Carrick golf course is the main attraction at the De Vere Deluxe Resort at Cameron House.

Sympathetically designed in keeping with its position within Scotland’s first National Park, the par 71 course follows a traditional Scottish heathland style and, uniquely, straddles the rolling Lowlands and majestic Highlands of Scotland.

Challenging holes stretch over beautiful undulating fairways, hug inland lagoons and overlook the glittering waters of the Loch and rugged mountains beyond.

Designed by acclaimed Canadian designer golf, Doug Carrick, The Carrick extends from 5,200 yards, from the front tees, to 7,082 yards from the championship tees.

A perfect setting, very good layout, and a very challenging and enjoyable golf course. However, the greens were very, very poor. Too much play I think is spoiling it. The tee's and fairways for a relatively new course were excellent, but half dressed greens with no growth to speak of came close to ruining the experience. However.......I will definately go back.
