St Andrews, Jubilee Golf Course

What we say

The course has few weak points, although the 1st is a rather gentle opening hole. Star hole is the 15th. It’s quite a narrow tee shot with a possible blind second to an elevated green surrounded on three sides by gorse. The back nine takes no prisoners, and it’s easy to let shot after shot slip away.

The third championship course on the complex, the Jubilee course is considered by many to be the most challenging of them all. Originally intended for juniors and beginners, the course was extended into it's existing championship layout in 1988.

The par-4 15th hole is the courses signature hole and requires an accurate drive to a narrow fairway followed by a partially blind second shot to a green surrounded by gorse on all but one side.

As part of a three day pass we played the Jubilee as the second 18 holes in that day having played the New Course in the morning. This course was even tougher than the New Course . The condition of the course was again first class, tees and greens again immaculate. Some of the holes on the Jubilee are really tough and as a 28 handicapper and being the second round of the day I struggled especially on the back 9. Overall I found as with the New Course earlier the Jubilee was a tough round of golf, with excellent tees and greens and again stunning facilities and views.
