King James VI Golf Club

What we say

Hidden Old Tom Morris gem – this historic layout is wonderfully plotted on Moncreiffe Island where it has proudly resided since 1897 and is believed to be Scotland’s only inland island course.

The country's only self-contained river island golf course, King James VI Golf Club offers a beautiful but challenging environment for both novices and advanced players alike.

Founded in 1858 nearby at Perth's South Inch, then relocated to Moncrieffe Island, elsewhere in Perth, in 1897, and a purpose-built golf course designed by 'Old' Tom Morris, the legendary winner of multiple British Open Golf Championships.

Nowadays the golf course is a popular destination for local and visiting players, and welcomes all comers to its unique and spectacular Perthshire setting.

  • 4 out of 5 very enjoyable

played July 2009. Parking was a problem as park opposite was closed so had to drop equipment off at bridge and find a car park which took 10 minutes. To get to course another 10 minutes trek across bridge (it is an island course), but worthwhile once we played. The course was in excellent condition even after heavy rain the night before, and all 6 players thouroughly enjoyed the course.

Hi i am an 8 Handicapper and played at the Gleneagles Kings course in the Peugeot challange and must say it's one of the hardest and breath taking courses i have ever played on but my partner who was off 18 still managed a respectible score 33 points. The clubhouse is second to none and the staff make everyone feel like a proffesional you can hir a caddy for abouty £25 which i highly reccomend and the high light for me was at the presentation i got to hold the Ryder Cup
