Gleddoch House Hotel and Golf Club

What we say

The main course at Gleddoch House Hotel and Golf Club is a decent test of parkland golf carved into a hillside, offering superb panoramic vistas overlooking the River Clyde and across to the Trossachs.

The par 3s are a strong feature of the course and there’s a grand mansion Swallow-owned hotel with excellent amenities on site.

It is, however, a bit on the short side and a trifle ‘mickey mouse’ in places – you can hit a great shot but end up being penalised owing to the sloping nature of the terrain.

No doubt about it, the star hole is the amazing par-4 409 yard penultimate hole. It’s a left dogleg and you’re firing off an elevated tee with the fairway way, way down below. It’ll take your breath away.

  • 4 out of 5 Pleasant Round

Course was very wet and was closed on the following day. Despite this we had a good round playing off the yellow tees. No par 5s! Some interesting holes and as you climd to the top of the course you get stunning views of the Clyde as it heads out to sea. Look out for deals at the hotel. Worth a visit. Not too taxing for high handicappers.

  • 2.5 out of 5 Gleddoch in rotten weather

The Reception was very warm welcome with guidence to the first tee.Unfortunately the weather was wild with heavy rain,so as you can imagine the tees and greens were not in use till we were half way through our round. We'll still go back for a visit this Summer though because the course itself was very interesting and thought provoking.
