What we say
Gourock Golf Club is a fairly long course that plays even longer because of its steady inclines on many fairways across an undulating and hilly acreage of golfing terrain.
Consistently well-manicured and cared for, but sometimes feeling a bit wet underfoot, this is a lovely course with beautiful scenic views of the water nearby and maturing trees separating holes.
The most difficult hole on the course is the pine and ash tree lined 465-yard par-4 12th. It's a long slog up a hill to the halfway point, then downhill where players can either opt to lay up before, or go over, a cross burn 150 yards from the green, which banks to the left and back.
This course is a good test of players' golfing abilities, and is not ideal for beginners or those looking for a short walk.
Established in 1896 and situated above the picturesque town, the golf course’s moorland layout boasts absolutely spectacular views over the River Clyde and the Argyllshire Hills from every hole.
The golf course is an excellent test for any keen golfer. Enjoy nine, 18, 27 or 36 holes and then relax in the pleasant surrounding of the clubhouse with magnificent views overlooking the Clyde. It is a friendly club where visitors are made most welcome, and are often to return on many occasions.
