What we say
Llandudno North Wales Golf Club is described in the literature as ‘true links’ set in glorious scenery and invigorating sea air. None of us would argue with the scenery and air bits although we did feel that three or four holes – perfectly okay as tests of golf – didn’t quite have that ‘total links’ feel about them. Mind you, the rest certainly had… and were great.
Llandudno North Wales Golf Club was founded in 1894 by Tancred D Cummins, a prominent Manchester cotton businessman. The golf course has undergone a lot of changes since then, the biggest being 20 years ago when the green of the delightful short hole The Sahara was lost through coast erosion. There have been recent additions to the golf course facilities with the addition of a practice ground and a pitching area.
Accommodation: Take your pick – this is a popular seaside resort. We can recommend The Esplanade on the North Shore, Deganyway Castle in Deganwy and Llandudno’s Wedgewood Hotel.

I love this course, have played a few times as a visitor, is fantastic value on twilight rate for £10. First couple of holes get off to a good start, then things go downhill, 3rd, 4th and 5th are the most disappointing holes on the course. However, a stronger feel to 8th and 9th, passed railway and along the shore, with great views into the estuary. By the time you get to 13th, a tough par 3 with banked grass all around the green and 14th, long par 5 with a difficult drive, things really pick up!! 15th a great par 4 with narrowing approach to green and the two signature back to back par 3's at 16 and 17. You could spend all day going backwards and forwards over these two holes! Greens nearly always in top condition, fairways occasionally need a bit of work, especially on first few holes but, otherwise very enjoyable and i will always come back for more!!
i played here in the junior open when the weather was horrific and my golf wern't much better but i truly fell in love with the course which is very rugged and a true links test. the 16th and 17th par 3's are the best iv ever played.
