Tenby Golf Club

What we say

This quality links is believed to be Wales’ oldest course and boasts some of the quickest, truest greens you’re ever likely to putt on. Tenby has it all: fast running, gently rolling fairways, devious pot bunkers, intimidating blind shots and lightning quick greens plus a series of magnificent coastal vistas. It’s a breathtaking natural links – James Braid applied the finishing touches – where golf has been played and enjoyed for 125 years. Tenby Golf Club boasts a classy links golf course with classy views over to Caldy island and beyond. Once upon a time, Tenby was short-and-sweet but recent layout changes means it now boats a trio of par-5s. In the height of the season the rough can be extremely rough so it's vital to keep your ball on the short stuff. Watch out for the greens too - they're lightning quick so a red-hotter is essential.

Tenby is quirky in places and you'll be hitting a number of 'blind shots' including into the green at the par 4 4th, known at The Bell - the green is hidden in a dip and after putting out, you're required to ring the greenside bell to let the following players know the coast is clear. It’s in a magical setting between the seaside town’s South Beach and railway line and features several unforgettable holes with the signature undoubtedly being the par-4 4th with its green hidden in a hollow in the dunes. The short holes are pretty special too, specially the 12th which runs along the coast and provides stunning views of Caldey Island. You need to hit a Sunday best shot to find the plateau green – fail and you’re likely to be left with an impossible second shot. A memorable golfing experience...

  • 4 out of 5 Wyder Cup held at Tenby Oct 2011

    By Wydercupcaptain

We played our annual tournament, The Wyder Cup here, very similar format to Ryder Cup, two teams of 14 playing foursomes Friday, Fourballs Saturday and singles on the Sunday. Over the three days we found the course to be in excellent condition including the greens for mid October. It is a true test of golf, the secretary and the rest of the club staff were very welcoming and friendly. See our Website and look up 2011 reports www.wydercup.co.uk Can't wait to return, can recommend this course for those who want to get away from winter tees and temporary greens in winter and all those leaves and worm casts etc in autumn.
