Trefloyne Golf Course

Last Updated:

What we say

Trefloyne Golf Course is a decent parkland alternative to the nearby links of Tenby, believed to be the oldest golf club in Wales.

Trefloyne doesn't have that kind of history or tradition - it only opened 15 years ago - but what it does offer is value for money and an enjoyable if unspectacular golfing occasion.

When we played it, West Wales was in the middle of a rare dry spell and the golf course was playing extremely hard and fast - not unlike Tenby, actually - and stopping the ball on the tiny greens was a tricky, often impossible task.

The round really picks up on the back nine, the downhill par 3 12th being the pick of the short holes and being swiftly followed by a fine par 4 and requiring an intimidating second shot over an unused quarry.

Tucked away in the Ritec Valley, tree-lined and overlooking Tenby and the National Park of Pembrokeshire, Trefloyne Golf Course provides a fine golfing day out - whatever standard of golfer you are.

The golf course was constructed in 1992 but is now under relatively new ownership, the new owners pulling out all the stops to make the layout look and play even better.

And they're definitely winning the battle...

I spend most of my holidays down in west Wales, and Trefloyne is my home course down there. Everyone there is really nice and easy to get along with, even the staff too. The course itself is good, though a few of the holes are similar and tend to get a bit boring. Even so, there are a few great holes, my favourites being the downhill par-3 12th, the par-4 15th with a sloped dogleg to the left, and especially the signiture 13th - a long par-4 with the second shot needing to carry over a 100-foot deep disused quarry! Genrally, the course is well-kept aswell, which is a bonus. The prices are reasonable too. Trefloyne is great value for money and a nice place to play regularly, especially when the weather is good and your with your mates. All in all, reccomended!
