Pinheiros Altos Golf Club

What we say

If you can’t get a tee-time on neighbouring San Lorenzo, Pinheiros Altos Golf Club is a splendid alternative. No doubt about the signature hole: it’s the 17th with its island green, taking a leaf out of the book of the famous penultimate hole at TPC in Sawgrass, Florida. The opening nine holes are built on rolling, sandy terrain while the short second half negotiates gentle hills dotted weith several lakes.

Pinheiros Altos Golf Club was designed by Ronald Fream-desiogned and opened in 1992, bordered by the Parque Natural da Ria Formosa.

It boasts superb practice facilities which include a large practice area, three putting greens and a short-game area.

  • 1.5 out of 5 Ruined!

    By Adam Hughes

We played this course last year and it was fantastic a really gorgeous 18 hole course. Now they have three 9 hole loops, which if you are not careful you end up not playing the best part of the course the old back nine. The course is still new and isn't able to be back to its former best for at least five years.

  • 3.5 out of 5 Its not worth playing

The course is now 27 holes 9 holes pines, 9 holes olives and 9 holes lakes. The original 9 holes have been split you now play 5 holes from the original course and 3 from the new course(now alled Pines) the new holes have been open to soon, there is no grass on the fairways an its very open and boring. The back 9 is still the original and is worth playing but the changes have made a very good championship course into a municiple.

Great Course, great condition but very tight and very challenging.

  • 4 out of 5 Pines then Lakes

I knew this would be a great experience from the moment my clubs were picked up from the bag drop area and miraculously appeared on my buggy. Great practice range and putting green to loosen up and get feel of greens. First nine through pine tree lined fairways, accuracy not length is at a premium here. A very good test but very enjoyable. The back nine are on more open level ground with the lakes coming into play on nearly every hole. Signature hole has to be the par three seventeenth, a pitching wedge/9 iron to an island green. This hole definately has a WOW factor. Superb experience and great clubhouse to relax at the end of the round. A "must play" course.
