Cork Golf Club

What we say

If you’re playing Old Head, be sure to also visit Cork Golf Club, one of the best golf courses in the area.

All the attention in the south of the island is usually on the west coast but, alongside Fota island, this superb parkland gives the fine city of Cork plenty to shout about.

Founded in 1888 and redesigned in 1927 by Alister MacKenzie, the course is situated next to Cork Harbour but this is more than just a one-track pony.

MacKenzie has skilfully plotted it through and over the mature parkland landscape and the result is worth every bit of this placing in our Irish ranking.

It could conceivably be close to the 20s, such are the small margins in the courses that sit outside Ireland’s stellar names.

Classy, scenic and with bags of character, don’t go and play Old Head of Kinsale and not also play Cork.
