3.  Enville

It’s been around since 1935 but it is still something of a hidden gem. Enville’s Highgate layout is an Open qualifying course and a quality heathland-woodland combination, plotted next to the par-71 Lodge course. Make a day of it and play both!

4. Sandwell Park

Based in West Bromwich, you will find a part-wooded heathland course of truly immense quality, challenge and scenic surroundings. Be warned, you will need to be firing accurately with each shot….there are plenty of unforgiving hazards dotted around.

5. Trentham

The course is set on part of the former Duke of Sutherland’s Estate, with beautifully wooded areas and lakes. Driving is a real challenge on any hole and at over 6,600 yards the course is a true test and has been used for Open Regional Qualifying since 2002.

6. Whittington Heath

The course is laid out on heathland in the middle of beautiful, scenic Staffordshire countryside. It meanders through some extremely mature woodland in places so you can’t afford to spray it around too much!

7. South Staffordshire (South Staffs)

An excellent parkland test for all abilities. Originally designed by Harry Vardon, South Staffs has evolved and adapted to the modern gam with tree-lined fairways and small greens making pinpoint accuracy a must.

Has plenty of testing hazards and stunning scenery and that combination creates an awe-inspiring setting for golfers to enjoy. The rolling fairways mean accuracy will be rewarded as will precise approach work to the well-guarded greens.
