It is ridiculous to suggest the 10th hole here is worth the hefty green fee alone, but it is certainly one of the highlights in British golf. Drive off from an elevated tee to an expanse of lush fairway lined by pine, birch and oak then saunter down to your ball and fire a wood towards the raised green. A par may not be forthcoming, for this is an exacting hole, but you will leave the undulating green exhilarated, and your spirits will be raised further by the sausage sandwich in the halfway hut which almost lives up to its near-legendary status. The 10th is a magnificent hole, and it is just one of many outstanding offerings on the Old; some even prefer the short par-4s either side of it, or the stellar 5th. A round here in the morning and on the New in the afternoon is a day which is difficult to surpass.
