Abbotsley Golf Hotel – Abbotsley Course

What we say

Set in beauitful parkland, the Abbotsley Course offers great variety and the numerous bunkers, ponds and lakes offer a stern test.

Although not particularly long at 6,321 yards, the course is no pussycat and accuracy off the tee is vital, so driver isn't always the best option! Combined with the rolling, undulating greens, the Abbotsley is a must play for any keen golfer.

  • 5 out of 5 Best Course in Cambridgeshire

Played this course for the first time. Fantastic course, scenery and very well kept. A very enjoyable and challenging round for a great price. 2 players 18 holes for under £35. Highly recommend.

I played this course with my colleague after being away on business. I called on the day and booked what was a twighlight rate for us. I have to say I wasn’t expecting a great knock but was proven wrong, the course was absolutely fantastic and provided an excellent challenging round of golf at excellent value for money. Straight from the first tee off the first hole is a blind par four that you drive over a pond and the second hole a tricky par three with trees guarding the green.I didn’t know where to aim ! The rest of the course continues with a nice variety of challenging holes noticeably the last four holes with interesting doglegs and some narrow fairways and tough tee shots to think about. Overall we had an excellent round and the twighlight rate was excellent value for money.

Abbotsley is a great course. It looks great and is in amazing condition all year round. I played it in October and the greens, fairways and bunkers were superb, as much a credit to the members as to the greenkeepers. I think I experienced every side of golf in one round on this course as it is a test. It is tight in places and will punish you if you are careless with a tee shot or through the green with an approach shot. This aside, if you are driving straight and long and on the green in regulation it's very rewarding. I'd recommend the course to anyone, it will make the low handicapper think and choose his shots wisely. The higher handicapper will learn a lot and be a better player for playing a course like this.

  • 4 out of 5 Great Course!

    By Jonathan Allen

A great looking woodland golf course. The fairways and greens were all in mint condition. Some great looking holes like the short par 3 on the 2nd. Although the course was quite short it was hilly and challenging in places. I did found it frustrating waiting at every tee for 5 minutes or more. Overall it was a well rounded course with some lovely holes, but if you are playing at weekends you will have to be patient on the tees.

  • 3 out of 5 Abbotsley and Cromwell (chalk and cheese?)

These courses must be reviwed separately, they are so different in every respct. Basically the Cromwell course and clubhouse are like an average municipal but with the play not as cheap. The main redeeming factor is that the greens are normally pretty good. Abbotsley course and clubhouse; Much more mature and interesting with a more friendly welcome at the start. Well worth paying a little more for. The scores I have given are an average of the two.
