Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club

What we say

Suffolk decisively punches above its weight in terms of quality of courses and the Martello layout is one of the county’s best and provides a real coastal treat. It’s gently undulating and has been testing golfers, especially the tricky-to-read greens, since 1880.

FELIXSTOWE FERRY GOLF CLUB is the 5th oldest club in England.   It has two courses, the 18 hole Martello course, which is the only links course in Suffolk and the 9 hole Kingsfleet course.

The Martello course, which often hosts county competitions, has many challenging holes, some in their length and others in their design.    The 5th is a par 3 with a “postage stamp” green, which can be difficult to hit in windy conditions and the 17th is a long par 4 which has a large undulating St.Andrews type green.

Accommodation is available for visiting golfers in two self-catering apartments.

There is a welcoming atmosphere in the recently refurbished Clubhouse and Fish and Chips is a favourite meal with members and visitors.

A nice course with nice backdrops. Forgiving and open unless you find the gorse. Not for windy days.

Felixstowe Ferry is a good test of golf in most conditions and can be very testing in the wind. The signature hole is the 17th which is a links hole towards the Martello Tower. The greens are true and although not fast are always a good speed.
