Stonham Barns Golf Centre

What we say

Modern golf centre with excellent facilities including a nine-hole course with seven par-3s and two par-4s, a 28-bay driving range and mini-putt course. It’s ideal for beginners and provides great golfing fun for all the family.

The scenic short 9 hole golf course is ideal for beginners and game improvers and usually takes about one hour to go round the course. With seven par 3 holes and 2 par 4 holes it's longer than pitch n putt and offers a challange even for the most skilled golfers. Everyone is welcome and there are no dress rules or restrictions for anyone wanting to play. There are hire sets available for anyone that does not have equipment.

  • 5 out of 5 We really enjoyed playing this 9 hole golf course

I recently visited Stonham Barns Golf centre with my son and 2 grandsons to play golf on their nine hole course. My grandsons are new to golf and were excited at the prospect of playing on a "proper" course. We had heard that Stonham Barns Golf Centre was perfect for beginners and juniors and we were not disappointed. We were greeted by friendly staff who offered my grandsons the loan of golf clubs free of charge. The course was just right for all of us, not too challenging for the juniors but a couple of par 4 holes to make it more of a challenge for the grown ups. The course was in really good condition with lots of trees and bunkers to make it interesting. We all had a great day out that was fantastic value at £7 for adults and £5 for the juniors to play either 9 or 18 holes. We shall certainly be returning again soon. It is refreshing to find somewhere that is is doing all they can to encourage more juniors and beginners to get into golf in a relaxed and friendly environment. I would recommend Stonham Barns Golf Centre to anyone wanting to start playing golf without the usual restrictions of a conventional golf club.

I've been going to this course for many, many years and last year I took out a semi-membership for my partner and I but we have cancelled that and will never go back again. The course is adjacent to a campsite and last year we had to complain about the campers wandering through it during holiday times. Our complaining email was replied to pleasantly enough but we got the impression that we were being fobbed off ... however, that's not the worst of it! They've since introduced 'Foot-Golf' which means that normal Golf is constantly held up by footballers kicking footballs all over the course and earlier this year play was held up for 40 minutes because one of the 'foot-golfers' had lost their ball in a tree! Again, we had a pleasent reply to my complaint but definitely got the impression that our concerns did not matter. The final straws were that a couple of days ago we watched as one of an elderly female golfer's two dogs took a POO on the course which she ignored and left there and yesterday we were again held up by 'foot-golfers' who were complaining that they could not wear boots!! We're so sad because we did like playing there every week but it's no longer an acceptable place to go.
