What we say

The Longcliffe Golf Club is set on the lower slopes of Charnwood Forest and is situated two and a half miles away from the centre of Loughborough town in rural Leicestershire. The golf course at Longcliffe Golf Club is carved out of the ancient forest and each hole has a unique signature and presents a different challenge. The golf course has twice hosted the Ladies' Curtis Cup team in preparation for their Trans-Atlantic challenge and has been the venue for the English Boys' Championship. The course at the Longcliffe Golf Club has spectatular views and is also playable for most golfers standards.

  • 5 out of 5 Best in the county by a mile

Longcliffe is in outstanding condition. It's a challenge for every level of golfer, very narrow in parts with tree lined fairways and that lovely whispy long grass rough. Each hole is different with plenty of character. Stroke 1, 2, and 3 will sort the men from the hackers, pars a great on all three. The 15th is a delight as a par 3 from an elevated tee. All in all a great course.

Played on a beautiful March morning with the course virtually empty.  It is  visually similar to both Willesley Park and Lingdale, but all together in a different league.  This a beautiful course and in my mind the best in Leicestershire by a long way. But its also the most difficult!  Narrow fairways cut through mature forest are hard enough, but then with a camber that takes your ball into the trees if your position is anything less than perfect, make the course even more testing.  The par 3's are tight and long, and its understandable why this course would host most of Leicestershires matches and competitions - its an exceptional course and if you play well here you can play anywhere.  I suppose the only criticism I have is the constant traffic noise from the M1, but if you are looking for a Woborn style course at less than half the price then beat a path to Longcliffe near Loughborough, you will not be disappointed.  It is that good.
