  • 5 out of 5 Great day out

    By Adam Brown

Played all 27 holes and made a full day of it. Course was in excellent condition and the Full English in the bar was one of the best you will get anywhere. A few blind shots but aiming down the middle of the fairway was easy enough and the distance markers in the fairways to the greens helped. Would certainly play again.

Forgot to mention, make sure you allow a bit of time to fit in one of the Full English's. Certainly helped me to a Par on the first. ts

Having visited this course on a number of occasions I have to admit I love the place. From the moment you arrive you are greated with friendly smiles from both staff and members and are helpful with any matters. The course itself is fantastic having played the 27 holes numerous times I still can't decide which is my favourite as each loop has signiture holes. Everytime I have played there have been no temporary tee's or greens which is great as a lot of the courses I tend to play seem to be on them throughout the winter. Well worth a visit anytime of the year, I would suggest booking a tee time if you are planning a round in the summer as the course get's very busy with, what I can only assume is other golfers having a splendid time.

  • 1.5 out of 5 A Course for campanologists

I had heard good things about Cleobury, but I have to say I left somewhat dissapointed. The course has an extraordinary number of blind shots on it resulting in a vast array of bells hence the title. On one hole there were 2 bells to ring! The greens/tees were ok but nothing special. There are some nice views and a few nice holes but I didn't appreciate the number of blind shots, there are reasonable maps on the tees but not my cup of tea. Plenty of bunkers and a few water features, make some holes interesting but it really has the feeling of a society destination club.

Founded by Robert and Graham Pain in July 1993, Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club has rapidly become one of the most popular golf courses in the Midlands. The golf course itself is made up of 27 exciting golf holes laid out in 3 loops of 9 that start and finish close to the clubhouse. I visited the course in the middle of January'06 on a Sunday & for an all day ticket with a 2-FORE!-1 the cost was £18 which is fantastic value. The course was in fantastic condition with the greens being hand cut which resulted in true & smooth putts. The fairways were firm & well manicured. At the time I played trolleys were required to have the ?hedgehogs? fitted to the wheels. Most of the tees were on grass with the exception of a few & if I were to be picky this was the only area that could do with improvement as the mats were less than perfect. Most courses have 1 signature hole but this place has 3. The 1st being the 9th on the Foxes course which is a short par 4 but made difficult with 2 lakes either side of the fairway. The 2nd, & probably the most spectacular within the midlands, is the 6th on the Badgers course which is a short par 3 but the green is 100ft below & surrounded by a shoe horse of water, anything other than a well placed shot ends in a watery grave. The 3rd is the 8th on the Deers course which is a long tricky par 3 with a huge pond just in front of the green, needless to say an accurate shot is a must. The clubhouse & changing facilities were excellent with areas for golfers & non-golfers to enjoy the surroundings either before or after a game of golf. The cost for 2 teas & 2 sausage sandwiches was £6 which I felt was good value for money. There are plenty of practice facilities, which include an 18-hole putting green, driving range, chipping areas & sand bunkers. This place also offers fantastic offers for society days & there best offer is Monday Madness where the cost of an all day ticket on Mondays is just £15!!
