Tamworth Golf Club

What we say

The course opened in September 1975 by the then Minister  for sport-The Rt. Hon. Dennis Howell MP.

The 18 hole mature parkland course is popular with both experienced golfers and beginners alike and also hosts a number of Pro-Am and national junior and senior external tournaments.

The surrounding countryside and views across four counties makes it one of the most attractive in the Midlands.

  • 1 out of 5 course rubbished by new owners

    By Robert Clarke

i have been a member at tamworth for 16 years, but since the new so-called owners took over it has been ruined they have no intrest in golf or golfers, they have not looked after the course in any way the bunkers, greens, fairways and the course in general are rubbish all they are intrested in is dumping big mounds of  soil around the edge of the course, in my view they will dump and ruin the course then leave like they have at other courses so save your money and play somewhere else

  • 1.5 out of 5 Has potential but ......

    By Leo Lionet

First impressions are not helped by a rather run down looking clubhouse when you first arrive.  The Pro shop was far from that with very little in the way of equipment, a missed opportunity there.  No course guide available which wasn't helped by there being no tee boards except the 9th, no "this way to the next tee" boards, no distance markers, no direction markers and rather funny little flagsticks about 4 ft high.  The day we played the greens had just been sanded but looked like they were actually quite reasonable.  The fairways weren't too bad and just needed some more definition from the first cut.  There is a sign saying "Dress smart, clean and tidy - no effort, no chance" and "Check your footwear - remember you're playing golf not football" and we were followed by a 2 ball with jeans, football shirts and trainers!  Sometimes I think some clubs don't really help themselves in this area.  Could be a good course with some more effort but it simply looked like no-one could be bothered.
